Youth Drone Camp Curriculum
Students will learn a variety of skills to kickstart their interest in drone technology, and give them an edge towards obtaining their professional drone pilot certificates! Topics include:
- Piloting skills, safety, and regulations
- Drone Flight Coding using DroneBlocks
- Aerial photography and videography
- Mapping and photogrammetry
- Problem solving with drone-based solutions
- Working in coordinated “Drone Teams”
- Drone Racing
Our Youth Drone Camp curriculum introduces students to coding using block coding, though the drones we use in our programs can be coded using various languages including Scratch and Python.
A Volatus Aerospace Youth Drone Camp instructor demonstrates the 3-axis rotational movements of a drone: roll, pitch and yaw!
A student uses the DroneBlocks software tool during Youth Drone Camps to program a drone to fly through an obstacle course.
A student attempts to navigate the Stage-1 Drone Racing course. As their skills improve, the stages get progressively more difficult!
A student pilots a drone laden with blocks during the “Engineering Studio” portion of Youth Drone Camp. Students compete in this design challenge to create the most efficient method to transport cargo between two points, not unlike the everyday challenges facing today’s drone operators!
